{"id":504,"date":"2015-09-18T09:32:38","date_gmt":"2015-09-18T09:32:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csgc.website\/?page_id=504"},"modified":"2025-01-19T18:06:31","modified_gmt":"2025-01-19T18:06:31","slug":"history-of-the-club-fleet","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/csgc.org.uk\/?page_id=504","title":{"rendered":"History of the Club fleet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the years the Club has seen lots of changes in its fleet, although for most of that time there have been around three single-seaters and one or two two-seaters.\u00a0 An overview of the changes can be seen in this timeline:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-507\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/History-chart-1.gif\" alt=\"History chart 4\" width=\"1559\" height=\"543\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of the early types to be used was the Olympia 2b.\u00a0 One of these <a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Olympia_127_Brimstone_finals.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-513 size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Olympia_127_Brimstone_finals.jpg\" alt=\"Olympia 127 (Brimstone) on approach at Lasham.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"203\" \/><\/a> (number 127), in blue and yellow, was affectionately known as \u201cBrimstone\u201d, and many years after leaving the Club was purchased and renovated by a group of Club members of the time and is now based in the Glider Heritage Centre at Lasham.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/831.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-513 size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/831.jpg\" alt=\"Ka8 (831) landing at Lasham\" width=\"300\" height=\"203\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nOur longest serving glider is the much-loved Ka8 (831) which has seen a number of reburbishments over the decades.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/581-Ka8-748-in-field-near-Wantage-6-Sep-1980.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-513 size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/581-Ka8-748-in-field-near-Wantage-6-Sep-1980-300x203.jpg\" alt=\"581 - It was sold a little before the Club moved to Lasham.
